DIY Organization for Ribbon and Supplies

WOW!  I have had so much going on lately I haven't posted as much as I'd like to, so I apologize, but if you have missed it, Homespun Elegance now has a Sister blog A Homespun Affair and myself and a great team of girls have started an online magazine for all things crafty! If you haven't joined the release party yet, I would suggest doing so soon!! We have hundreds of dollars worth of great sponsors giveaways, so be sure to check it out and get in your entries!

I was cleaning up my craft area last night, and I decided that I needed some new holders for my tools, markers, pens and scissors. This is a QUICK and EASY (Just like I like it!) way to take some things you would normally throw away, and re-use it and make it beautiful AND organize some things! Doesn't just need to be for your crafty items! Would look great at your office, whether at home or outside of the home!

Want to know what they are? :) They are 2 black bean cans, a large green bean can, and a used candle! ;)  Here is the proof!

This is SO Simple!! I cut 12x12 paper in strips to fit, adhered it with my ATG gun, and cut my ribbon for the top and bottom and used the ATG gun there as well! Super Duper Easy!!

To find out more on how to re-use the candle with further instructions CLICK HERE

I had also decided that I needed to finally clean up my loose ribbons - this takes a bit longer to organize, but is well worth the effort, is clean and tidy, and I am not buying more ribbon because I don't know what all I have or I can't seem to find it!! ;)

I Purchased 2 packs of 6 3M stick mount Cup Hooks, and re-used the packaging and wound ribbon around it. I also used some packaging from a stamp set as shown below and fancied it up for you, although, really, I don't need my stuff really gussied up But wanted to show you how simple it is!

This is the backing to the stamp set. I cut it in half to have to pieces.  I cut 12x12 paper to size and adhered with my ATG Gun, I used a hole punch at the top and starting to wrap the ribbon around, I secured the ribbon at the tip with a dab of my ATG tape.

This one is not gussied up and is the packaging for the Cup mounts ;) LOL

Here they are on my ribbon holder all neat and organized! If you would like the instructions on how to make this HUGE ribbon holder, CLICK HERE

GREAT TIP - I always secure the ends of my ribbon with a dab of my ATG gun so that it stays in place.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Please leave me a comment! I always LOVE hearing from you and hope that I have inspired you to be creative with what you have!

If you came from Helen's Blog, you are in the right spot!

This blog hop is in celebration of KateylnCo's birthday with just a little twist from the regular birthday blog hop. We are being inspired by the song written by Lesley Gore,

To be entered all you need to do is Hop Today and on each stop along the way leave a comment! You have until Thursday to Hop and KatelynCo will be announcing the winner on Friday! This blog hop is not requiring you to follow each of the blogs, but we'd love it if you joined our blogs. Emma is giving away the Cocktails stamp set from Pink by Design. This set has fruits, glasses, and umbrellas! Perfect for Summer and a very versatile set In Other Words. Just leave a comment on each stop to be entered! Winner will be selected at random!
I created a mini album for this hop! It is for my new and dear friend's Daughter, Mekayli (Me-Kay-Lee).  Wandy Pizarro ( is Mommy and has been such a treasure since I met her. It was really an off chance, and she had commented on the Easter Baskets that I was doing with Sheffields Place. I responded, and we kept in contact.

First, I wanted to show you the cover! Isn't that so sweet! I used my Sew Easy thread and gloobers and wound the thread from the center to the outside and snipped it and burned the edges to prevent fraying.

Products Used:

  • Me and My Big Ideas Happy Birthday Paper pack
  • Exposed 6x6 Mini Acrylic Album from ScrapWorks
  • Pink By Design Sentiment Stamps ( I also challenged myself to only use one stamp designer on this album, which, since they are Pink By Design, that wasn't very difficult :) I absolutely LOVE Sarah's sentiment stamps, background stamps and die cuts)
  • Doodlebug Design Inc stickers and embellishments
  • Sew Easy Twine
  • Various buttons, rhinestones, pearls, stickles and other embellishments, and ribbons from my stash

This Mini really was easy to do once I got the Acrylic Album covered in the paper and the sides inked. I used frames, candy stickers, Lollipop stickers, cupcakes, everything sweet and pink that a little Lady would LOVE :)

I filled up this envelope with confetti hearts for a BIG surprise for BOTH Wandy and Mekayli :)

Thank you SO much for stopping by and celebrating Emma's Birthday with us! Don't forget to wish her the BEST BIRTHDAY EVER!! ;)

Also, I am doing a fun little giveaway for those that are friends of Homespun Elegance! To be entered, all you have to do is be a Friend! Current and New fans welcome! (But remember, to be entered in KatelynCo's candy, you must comment on each person's blog) This giveaway is for a grab bag of Resins from the newest Sponsor of A Homespun Affair, E-zine!!

Creative Kuts U-stream! My First Paper Peicing

I just wanted to share with you my first paper peicing project!! Cheryl, owner of Creative Kuts, was kind enough to have a U-stream, with a freebie file so those of us, that did not know how to paper peice could learn. We learned about the type of files and formats they come in, unzipping, the machines that are compatible with these files, and I found out VERY quickly that I was going to be hand cutting :)

My friend Natasha came over last night too and made one with me while we watched the Ustream :) Didn't she do SUCH a lovely job!!? This is Tash's first time really card making, and she is learning all of the nifty things about paper products, tools, and companies out there!! ;)
